A very laid back attitude where you are not coerced into buying, where the Greeks are happy just to meet you! I found the internet cafes extremely helpful and in no rush for you to leave. Making a delicious cup of coffee at inexpensive prices. I decided to go exploring the minute I arrived and went straight for the small village of Naoussa and am so pleased I did. I located a rent room on the top of the small hill, it was rented from a lovely Greek lady who owned a supermarket in town.
Her son escorted me up, carrying my little suitcase, to show me the room. At a very inexpensive 20 euros per night, the apartment was the most amazing apartment I have ever stayed in, in Greece! I was so pleased with it and the Greek lady's hospitality that I stayed for 3 weeks! Each day I toured the island on my little rented scooter and on my return I found Greek sweets, Greek cakes and Greek cheeses with typical Greek dried biscuits in my room waiting my return!
The lovely Greek lady used to call me her angel! Wow impressive Island. I found the same sort of kindness and welcome wherever I toured the island. Paros Island is a Greek island I highly recommend.
Please bear in mind that if you hire a car and take it off road, that the underneath may not be insured if you damage it on rocks or a rough road! A bike is a good idea to hire and if you decide to hire a bike on Paros, please insist on a helmet and go very carefully as off road is obviously dangerous and the roads can get slippy in the heat.

PAROS ~ the Greek Island in the Cyclades Greece
Paros Island is a small little gem of a Greek Island. Quiet and very peaceful with a couple of very sweet little harbours. I arrived by boat into Parikia, a very clean and tidy village with a few lovely back streets full of shops. Some of the shops selling Greek Souvenirs and some selling designer clothes. I was amazed at how well kept a small Greek Island could be when I stayed in Naoussa and Parikia. Parikia has some small backstreets for Greek souvenirs shopping and even has a couple of Internet Cafes offering help if you need it and a great cup of coffee!

Paros Island is cooler than Crete making sleeping at night more bearable! Crete is a very dry hot island and gets very dusty in the height of the season, perfect for heat lovers! For those of you that feel the cold, a cardy is required in the evenings on Paros when the cool breeze begins. On Crete take a small fan to cool you down!
Although you have waited all winter to obtain your holiday tan, the wise one's among you will use a higher factor sun cream during the extremely hot days, this will not make you tan less, it will actually make you tan more and avoid 3-4 days of not being able to sit in the sun at all!
Perhaps you wish to go Greek Island hopping from Paros? A 5* Paros island Cruise? An excellent idea! Travel by boat or plane is inexpensive and frequent in Greece and even in the height of the summer holiday season, you will always be able to find self catering accommodation or rooms for rent relatively easily! The sea around the islands of Greece and Crete are usually very clean and clear, there are times of the year when jellyfish swim close to the beaches, so it's always worth checking before leaping into the sea! There are also times when black bin bags wash in with the tide, to see one such beach click here!

Looking to resettle in Paros Greece or on Crete? Buying a house sometimes is easy with a good Greek estate agents helping you, you can buy businesses, bars, restaurants, houses new or old, renovated or derelect in the ancient villages of Greece. Not many businesses are for sale on Paros Island and I never noticed any houses or other property for sale on Paros Island. Crete has many ancient villages to renovate a house to your style or retain the fantastic Greek style. The Greek style of houseon Paros is more rounded than the Cretan style of using local stone that can be half a metre thick!
You can still buy land in Greece and on Crete, check the land can be built on first and there is local electricity that can be connected. Running water is always a problem both on Crete and in Paros Greece, usually water is collected in large containers for the usual water shortage, so use your water wisely!
